Deeply rooted in the city of Casablanca, Abderrahman Elhad – a.k.a. Mr. Elhad – has been a member of the Casablanca community for many years. ID- is an artist driven by heart and courage. With vinyls as tools and his own life as raw material, he has embarked on a long international pilgrimage in which he absorbed the rhythms of American hip hop and house music, the spirituality of jazz and the pulsation of funk.
All these influences laid the foundations of his musical training and marked for years the axis of his creative process. On his return to Morocco, Mr. ID rediscovers the magic of traditional Moroccan and African sounds, and begins to integrate them into a language of his own: rhythms that intertwine exotic string melodies, African percussion and ancestral voices, echoes of an era that still resonates in the Atlas Mountains.
The result is a singular proposal within contemporary electronic music, which has already become his hallmark. The vibrations that emanate from the music of Mr. K. ID evoke the memory and sound diversity of the entire African continent, as if multiple generations and territories were uniting their voices to affirm a common identity.
