Eskorzo and Muerdo are releasing today ‘La Tumba’a reinterpretation in the key of Cuban son included in ‘Amistades Caníbales’, the album with which the band from Granada will celebrate its 30 years on stage. Together with 14 other artists with whom they share friendship and a deep love for music, they cannibalize each of the 14 songs of their career chosen for an album that revisits them “on a soft fire”.
This new advance and reinterpretation of ‘La Tumba’ was originally released on the album ‘Alerta Caníbal’ with Amparo Sánchez (Amparanoia). “Cooked” now “a fuego suave”, the result is a Cuban son of classic air, with resonances of the Cuban ensembles of the 40’s and moments of descarga, interpreted in two voices and evoking the pulse, elegance and freedom of the great Cuban orchestral sound and the creations of Benny Moré.
Tony Moreno describes the process as a spontaneous and authentic encounter. In addition, the Eskorzo singer and Muerdo recorded a second version, a rumba reinterpretation: “We recorded it one summer afternoon in the middle of the street where I live in Granada, during the Zaidín festivities. Muerdo came over after his soundcheck to have a few wines and a few songs with my neighbors, just like that, just like songs made with the soul have to sound”. From this version, the band also publishes today this song today on their social networks and on Youtube.
La Tumba is added to other previously released tracks such as ‘Los besos que me dabas’ with El Jose and ‘La Pena’ with Bersuit Vergarabat. The anniversary album will also feature collaborations with artists such as Chambao, Coque Malla, Amparanoia, Albert Pla, Macaco, Noni from Lori Meyers and Tomasito, among others. “We are celebrating: 30 years of stories, friendships and passion for music. Music is stronger when it is shared,” concludes Moreno.
ESKORZO TOUR
The release comes after the closing of the Historias de Amor y Otras Mierdas tour, with more than 35 concerts in just two and a half months throughout Europe and several outstanding sold outs. The band, known for breaking down stylistic boundaries without losing their identity, will soon announce the tour with which they will celebrate their 30th anniversary. Eskorzo warns: this show will be explosive, a trademark of the house.
