Sonido Vegetal Kicks Off Its Summer Campaign: New Single Produced by a Grammy Winner and a Flurry of Confirmed Dates

Sonido Vegetal has just released “Abanderado”, a new single in which the Granada-based band takes its unique blend of flamenco, Balkan rhythms, ska, electronic music, and punk energy even further. Somewhere between a distorted saeta, a Balkan fanfare, and a burst of punk energy, the single transforms heartbreak into a sonic procession that is as wild as it is liberating.

The release is also accompanied by a new wave of summer dates as part of their “Lavín Cómo Está el Patio Tur” tour, with stops already confirmed at festivals such as SalOrgullo ( July 3), DMC Fest ( July 11), and Zaidín Rock ( September 5).

‘Abanderado’ was recorded and co-produced at Space Mountain Studios ( Las Albuñuelas, Andalusia) by Néstor Melguizo, lead singer of Sonido Vegetal, alongside Martin Glover “Youth,” a renowned Grammy-winning producer, bassist for Killing Joke, and regular collaborator with artists and projects such as Pink Floyd, The Verve, U2, Paul McCartney, Primal Scream, and The Orb.

The mixing and mastering were handled by Marcos Muñiz, an engineer who has worked with artists such as La Plazuela, Yung Beef, Quevedo, and Niño de Elche, contributing a powerful, contemporary, and hybrid sound that amplifies the single’s identity.

The band from Granada once again unfolds its unmistakable musical universe in a song that blends imagery from Holy Week, flamenco roots, Balkan rhythms, a punk attitude, and ska energy, all woven together by a contemporary production that incorporates electronic textures and synthesizers without sacrificing the visceral, street-level, and festive character that has defined the group since its inception.

“Abanderado” tells a story of emotional heartbreak through irony, rage, and a dark humor that runs throughout the song. The song portrays a character leading a “procession of sorrows”—someone marked by their contradictions, fears, and wounds. However, the title itself suggests a second interpretation: perhaps the true standard-bearer is the one who picks up the pieces of their shattered life and decides to take charge of it once again.

Plant Sound

Formed in Granada in 2007, Sonido Vegetal has spent nearly two decades developing its own unique sound, where gypsy punk, Balkan music, ska, electronic music, and Andalusian roots coexist without stylistic boundaries.

With albums such as *Las Bases del Razonamiento* and *Verbena Calavera*, and songs like “Carromato Punk, ” ‘Malafollá 3.0,’ and ‘Vengo’ featuring Eskorzo, the band has established a career marked by eclecticism, celebration, and intense stage presence, bringing their live show to national and international festivals such as BoomTown Fair ( United Kingdom), Festa do Avante (Portugal), Zafest (Czech Republic), Shukta Festival (Israel), and Viña Rock.

Far from resting on its laurels, Sonido Vegetal continues to expand its artistic vision with an increasingly solid and contemporary identity: music in which celebration serves as a form of resistance, chaos turns into dance, and scars are ultimately transformed into song.
