The first sidereal connection with La Bersuit

In the case of La Bersuit, the connection with Eskorzo is not new. It all started in 1999, when the band from Granada discovered by chance ‘Libertinaje’, an album that “blew their minds”, they admit. The attitude, the lyrics, the sound… everything spoke the same language as the musicians of Eskorzo. Soon after came ‘Hijos del culo’ and confirmed what they already sensed: they were in front of a band with whom they shared more than just influences. In 2003, while Eskorzo was recording ‘El Árbol de la Duda’, La Bersuit performed in Granada and both bands finally met in person. There, in a dressing room full of good vibes, their first collaboration emerged, the first sidereal connection: Poetas.

More than twenty years later, the second sidereal connection arrives with this new version of The Sorrow. A song that in its original version was very powerful and rhythmically incendiary. “We used to open the concerts with this skapunk song like ¡Zas!, take shrapnel… but it also had an undertone of loss, attachment, broken hearts,… So we decided to walk along that path, that is, we transformed it into a bolero”, explains Tony Moreno. Thus, ‘La Pena’, turned into a melancholic bolero, returns now with more pause and depth, where the heartbreak of broken hearts beats. “The idea of reinterpreting it with La Bersuit came spontaneously during a rehearsal. Someone shouted: “Here they have to be Bersuit!”,” explains Tony Moreno, singer of Eskorzo. And so it happened. The call was immediate; the response, enthusiastic. And the result, a moving song.

“We played, we sang, we laughed, we cried and here is the result,” explains Tony Moreno.“Pure soul made song. And now… it’s yours”.

La Pena’ perfectly represents the spirit of Eskorzo’s new album: songs that change their skin, but not their essence. Pieces reinterpreted from artistic maturity, emotional complicity and the desire to celebrate what they have lived. The album for their 30th anniversary, which will be released in 2026, is not an ordinary compilation, but an exercise of living memory, which honors the past while moving forward.

Other collaborations

In addition to this collaboration with Bersuit Vergarabat, this work will feature collaborations with El Jose, Chambao, Coque Malla, Amparanoia, Albert Plá, Noni from Lori Meyers, Aitor Velázquez (Hora Zulú), El Canijo de Jerez, Tomasito, Macaco, Muerdo, Francisco el Hombre (Brazil), Macha de Chico Trujillo (Chile) or Nidia Góngora (Colombia), among others. “We are celebrating 30 years of stories, friendships and passion for music,” says Tony. “This project is a gift for us, for you and for all those who have been part of this musical journey”.

For the moment we know ‘Los Besos’ (The Kisses) with El Jose and La Pena’ with Bersuit Vergarabat with Bersuit Vergarabat from this new album in which Eskorzo once again demonstrates that the soul of a band is not in their labels, but in their ability to create community, cross borders and share what they love the most: music.
