More than 2,000 people, sold outs and international artists in a unique meeting of rural essence that will return in 2026 on the same dates.
The fourth edition of the Sonraíz Festival closed its celebration this weekend with a resounding success in terms of attendance, programming and public response. During September 19 and 20, more than 2,000 people came to Carcabuey to enjoy a unique proposal that fuses music, art, gastronomy, nature and territory in the heart of the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park.
Two of the three stages of the festival have hung the “sold out” sign, including the one with the largest capacity, thus consolidating Sonraíz as a reference event in the national and international scene. The diversity of the public’s origins has been one of the most outstanding aspects: visitors from countries such as Italy, France, England, Germany, Holland, Australia or Nepal have been part of this collective experience, conscious and connected to the rural identity. With this year’s excellent reception, the organization is already planning the 2026 edition for the same weekend in September.
The program was carried out normally, as planned. The rural houses of the region have reached a high occupancy and, despite the fact that Carcabuey has doubled its population during the weekend, the festival has been carried out without incident, with an atmosphere of respect, coexistence and cultural celebration.
Among the most exciting moments were the concert by Natalia Doco on the Castle Stage at dusk, preceded by the intimate live performance of Lalola, which filled the heritage environment with magic. Another of the most poignant moments took place on the Monte Stage, where a minute of silence was observed in protest of the genocide in Palestine just before the performance of Maria del Tango.
The performances of artists such as Delameseta, Baiuca, Le Parody and Electronic Flamenco Esquejes have also been highly celebrated by the public, thanks to their ability to mix percussion, electronic beats and ancestral voices of Galician, Andalusian and Castilian-Leonese folklore. Meanwhile, Iseo & Dodosound, one of the bands performing for the first time in Córdoba, more than met the expectations of a devoted audience at the Escenario Parque.
The sessions of DJs Carla Valenti, Ussuru Sound and Anais Begón have also been one of the highlights of the festival. Each with their own style and sensibility, they have offered musical journeys that have ranged from the Andes to Southeast Asia, passing through the Argentine pampas or the African savannah.
During the inauguration of the festival, an emotional act of twinning was held with the Parapanda Folk Festival, one of the oldest active festivals dedicated exclusively to roots music.
Special mention should be made of the large number of visitors to the Museum of Carcabuey, with activities such as the premiere of the documentary ‘Soy Mi Propia Musa’, the mural in progress by the Algazara collective and the round table coordinated by FADEMUR, with the participation of playwright and director Nati Villar.
With a program that has combined international proposals, new sounds of roots music and parallel activities for all audiences, Sonraíz 2025 bids farewell reaffirming its commitment to equality, territory and culture as a driver of social transformation.
The festival is organized by Rootsound and has the support of the City Council of Carcabuey, the Provincial Council of Córdoba, the Rural Development Group of Subbética, the Mancomunidad de la Subbética, FADEMUR, the artistic collective Algazara and the Protected Designation of Origin Priego de Córdoba, which has been present with a brand activation that has allowed attendees to learn about the origin, varieties and nuances of its renowned AOVEs.
Recognized in previous editions by the Iberian Festival Awards, the European Festival Awards and the Fest Awards, where it was awarded for its commitment to gender equality, Sonraíz is consolidating its position as a benchmark in the scene of festivals that are conscious and connected to the territory.
See you in the next edition.
