The first confirmations are Natalia Doco, Baiuca, Delameseta, Le Parody and María del Tango, proposals that have in common their “rural artivism”: they promote the knowledge of the oral heritage of rural environments, update it and vindicate these new imaginaries from tradition.
Sonraíz returns on September 19 and 20 to Carcabuey, in the heart of the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park, with its fourth edition: a celebration of the culture of origin that bets on an integral and egalitarian proposal, with national and international artists committed to the evolution and defense of folklore, rural heritage and the vindication of new imaginaries from tradition.
A complete experience
The organization has put on sale, at a reduced price, the first passes for the full experience that gives access to all stages and activities. Sonraíz is more than a music festival: it is a sensory and collective experience that connects roots music with gastronomy, crafts, plastic arts, nature and critical thinking.
This year, once again, it has a feminist proposal for its poster with a majority of proposals led by women from different territories of the world, sharing the same vision: the updating of folklore as a tool for change and resistance. Artists who sing from the local to talk about the global, in an intercultural and transformative program that will soon be unveiled in full. For now we know the first names that make up the line-up: Natalia Doco, Baiuca & Aliboira, María del Tango, Le Parody and Delameseta.
NATALIA DOCO
Natalia Doco comes to Sonraíz with her mystical universe, where the ancestral and the sacred feminine become song. With music deeply connected to her roots, her presence in Sonraíz is a call to rediscover feminine strength and sacredness, celebrating the connection between earth, body and soul. A sonorous journey that invites us to feel with bare feet, to let the magic envelop us and experience music as a shared ritual.
BAIUCA
Baiuca arrives at Sonraíz with “Barullo”, in which she resignifies the Galician foliada (rural festival) from a contemporary point of view, deeply connected with the rural and with the feminine roots of the territory. In this show, the strength of the collective and the feminine takes center stage through Lilaina, a group of tambourine players formed by Andrea and Alejandra Montero and Antía Muíño.
Their voices and percussions, heirs of the Galician oral tradition transmitted by rural women, are the soul of the live performance. Together, they bring to the stage a sonority that mixes emotion, ancestral strength and a look committed to popular culture. At his side, Xosé Lois Romero contributes traditional percussion that dialogues with the most avant-garde electronics of Alejandro Guillán. The creator of Baiuca acts as an alchemist of the most avant-garde electronic music and ancestral roots sonorities. Adrián Canoura’s visuals complete an immersive experience. In it, ancestral chants, anonymous coplas and electronic beats meet to turn the dance floor into a collective celebration of the identity, memory and cultural resistance of Galician women.
LE PARODY
Le Parody, Sole Parody’s musical project, mixes electronic dance, global folk and dark pop in a live show that goes from verbena to rave. With samplers, loops, voice and ukulele, he creates songs that sound like love, heartbreak and revolution, between flamenco, the Andes and the deserts of North Africa. A sonorous journey between Björk and Julieta Venegas, from whisper to fire.
DELAMESETA
Delameseta is folklore of the future: tambourines, synths and beats that bring the Castilian tradition of the people to the dance floor. The duo proposes a journey through the traditional rhythms and sounds of Castilla y León from an updated perspective, where popular culture is transformed into an electronic party. Dance, roots and celebration without borders.
MARIA DEL TANGO
Reinventing flamenco from a personal and profound perspective, María del Tango fuses the deepest roots with contemporary sonorities. It opens new expressive paths without losing the essence. The artist has already established herself as one of the most singular voices of the new flamenco.
